About Skip

​Skip McCall, as he is known throughout the community, is married to Candy McCall. They have a blended family of six children and eight grand-children. 
Christopher “Skip” McCall grew up in Statesville, and attended Statesville High School during the first year of court ordered desegregation in 1969. He earned an Associate Degree in Electronic Data Processing from Mitchell Community College. He completed the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, N.C. 
His service in the United States Army spanned two years, April 1971 to April 1973. Skip served with the 101st Airborne and the 2/11th Armored Calvary Divisions while he was deployed in the Republic of South Vietnam for 11 months. He was discharged at the rank of Specialist-Five.
Skip’s civic involvement include: Past President of Statesville Branch NAACP; Board of Directors, Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce; past President of IMPACT, Inc. (Iredell Men Preparing Appropriately For Community Transformation); member of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Partnership Committee; recipient of the Mitchell College Viola Kimbrough Parker Diversity Award; recipient of the 1998 NAACP Wilson W. Lee “You Can Make A Difference” Award; recipient of 2000 National Kraft Foods/NAACP Community Service Award; past member of Iredell-Statesville School Board; past chairman, Minority Affairs Committee, Statesville Chamber of Commerce; past Vice-president, Public & Governmental Affairs Division, Statesville Chamber of Commerce; past member of Greater Statesville Economic Development Commission; served as Chairman, Iredell County Kidney Coalition, Statesville Branch NAACP Executive Committee and member, Community Juneteenth Committee.
Skip continues to serve in various other capacities to improve the quality of life for all people in our community. Join us on February 17 to learn about his experiences growing up in the Statesville area during segregation and the Civil Rights era.
