26th Annual Art in Bloom
Statesville native and author Marie Land Avery Mickey will be the featured speaker at the 26th Annual Art in Bloom Fundraiser and Luncheon on April 4 at the Statesville Civic Center.
Following a distinguished career in marketing, sales management and sales communications, Marie published a memoir, “Who Will Polish the Silver: A Southern Baby Boomer’s Remembrance.” The memoir recalls growing up in the 1940s South and reflects on the experiences of childhood that shaped her life. “We are so excited to welcome Marie as this year’s Art in Bloom speaker,” said Iredell Museums Board President Amy Lawton. “Art in Bloom is always such a special event, and raises much-needed funding for our museum and afterschool outreach programs.” In addition to Marie’s presentation, Art in Bloom will also feature the Keeper of the Culture Award, which will recognize Statesville’s Henry Steele for his many contributions to the arts community. Art in Bloom favorites like Mattie’s Mimosa Bar, the Gourmet-to-Go Bake Sale, Johnson Greenhouses’ Gift Shop, and a silent auction. Lunch will be provided by Kirk’s Catering.
